(Ingles) My name is Mitch, I am from New Zealand and have recently moved to Madrid with my partner. Over the last few months we have been petsitting across Europe and have cared for lovely dogs here in Madrid. I am comfortable and familiar with elderly dogs, dogs that have medical needs and also if they are not social with other dogs.
At the moment I am not working so I am available come a look after your dog, walk them or just spend time with them. I have a background in design and public sector work. I have lived in many countries and can speak English, Spanish and French and some Italian. I am a very easy going sociable person that has a big soft spot for animals!
I have experience in both long and short term sits in many countries across Europe. From small dogs to big dogs both young and elderly. When sitting I have taken great attention to the owners instructions, guide book (Trusted Housesitters). Ensure to make their animal the centre of my attention and get to know them. Follow a routine and ensure close contact with the owner updating them throughout the sit.
I have had many petsitting experiences. But to select one. We looked after Lucy in Madrid on multiple occasions as well as having her come and stay with us. Our first time we cared for her for a week and then for a month. We bonded really well and got her trust very fast. She had some dietary challenges and not wanted to eat but we managed to find heating the food she would eat all of it. The owner was very pleased. She also had some medical attention needed prior to our stay so we had no problems giving her the extra attention for her pill and applying cream.
We respected her social boundaries and ensured to walk her and avoid other dogs as she wasn’t too social. But nonetheless we felt very comfortable and kept in close contact with her owners. Who have now become friends and when they head away leave Lucy with us!
I live in a spacious apartment with a lot of light and a safe balconies that small/big dogs can sit and watch people go by with no worries. They have a lot of space and we are on the first floors so very little steps to go up. The kitchen is its own room so for animals that owner prefer not to be in the kitchen we can maintain the door closed.
